Upcoming Saturday, January the 22nd, I'll be joining the Dutch rockers of 'Blaas of Glory' on stage. I'll be in for a surprise appearance at the release party of their upcoming album 'Blaas of Glory - Heavy Metal Marching Band: Highway to Hell (If you think I just ruined the surprise by telling you about it, just wait untill you see it, there will be plenty surprises left ) in Hedon, Zwolle ([You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

I met these guys two summers ago when I was involved in a special festival with only Dutch music 'Van Eigen Bodem'. Some of the Blaas of Glory guys were in the band who accompanied me and other Dutch singers like Anneke van Giersbergen and Cindy Oudshoorn. We also played on a lot of festivals together and it was always fun running into each other.

For those of you who haven't heard of Blaas of Glory yet; you've been missing out on something! These guys make parodies of some of the most famous rock and metal classics in their heavy metal marching band. Playing on some of the biggest heavy festivals this year, as we met them for example at Wacken (the picture in this blog was made there) and Sonisphere UK, they've had the pleasure of surprising some of the very bands they imitate, with their versions of their songs.
They've also done a very good job nailing the glamrock look with their wigs, tights and.. well, the stuff that fills them up But, beside the fact that their parodies make a very good laugh, these guys are actually very talented and driven musicians. As a dutch newspaper claimed the other day 'Blaas of Glory takes satire seriously'
Anyway, I guess you'll have to see it for yourself. The best, of course would be to come around at their album release gig next Saturday. For those who can't, here's a video with some impressions of their performance at Wacken Open Air.
