FR : Flyleaf est un groupe de metal alternatif fondé à Belton au Texas.
Le groupe a précédemment joué sous plusieurs autres noms: Listen, Sporos, The Grove, et Passerby. Ils sont devenus très connus au Texas sous le nom Passerby, mais un autre groupe possédait déjà les droits de ce nom, ils se sont donc appelés Flyleaf après avoir signé avec leur maison d'édition.En 2000, Lacey Mosley et James Culpepper ont commencé à jouer de la musique ensemble, puis ils ont recruté les guitaristes Jared Hartmann et Sameer Bhattacharrya. Le bassiste Pat Scelle a rejoint le groupe en 2002.
Sous leur ancien nom Passerby, ils ont sorti 3 EP et ont fait plus de 100 concerts au Texas en 2 ans.En janvier 2004 ils signent sous le label Octone Record. En mars Flyleaf enregistre un EP sous la direction de Rick Parasher (Pearl Jam, Blind Melon). Ensuite le groupe part en tournée avec Breaking Benjamin, Staind et 3 Doors Down pour promouvoir leur EP éponyme. En octobre, leur EP est en vente, avec leur premier single et vidéo clip "Breathe Today".En 2005, le groupe enregistre leur premier album sous la direction de Howard Benson (Papa Roach, My Chemical Romance). L'album sortira le 4 octobre 2005 sous le titre "Flyleaf", avec comme chansons principales: "I'm So Sick", "Fully Alive" et "All Around me".Le 12 avril 2006, Flyleaf effectue leur premier live à la télévision dans l'émission "Daily Download" sur "Fuse TV", où ils interprètent "I'm So Sick" et "All Around Me". Le 10 juillet ils enregistrent leur première apparition chez "Jimmy Kimmel Live", où ils interprètent "I'm So Sick" et "Fully Alive". Durant l'été 2006 Flyleaf a fait la tournée "Family Value Tour 2006", partageant la scène avec: Korn, Deftones, Stone Sour, Dir en grey et The Fall of Troy. Fin 2006, le groupe a participe à la tournée "Music As a Weapon Tour", avec Disturbed, Stone Sour et Nonpoint. Flyleaf sortira un EP intitulé "Music As a Weapon EP" avec une version acoustique de "Fully Alive". Tous les bénéfices de cet EP iront à la "World Vision", une ONG.Le groupe a participé à la réedition des chansons du film L'Étrange Noël de monsieur Jack dans l'album Nightmare Revisited en reprenant le titre "What's This". (Album enregistré entre 2006 et 2008 et sorti le 30 septembre 2008).En 2007, le groupe a participé au "Australian Soundwave Festival", avec Three Days Grace, Thrice et Eighteen Visions. Ils sont aussi venus en Europe avec Stone Sour et Forever Never. Durant l'été 2007, ils participent au "Justice & Mercy Tour", d'abord avec Skillet et Dropping Daylight, puis avec Sick Puppies, Kill Hannah et Resident Hero. Flyleaf a confirmé sa participation au "Family Value Tour 2007", au côté de Korn, Evanescence, et Atreyu.Flyleaf prévoie d'aller en studio fin 2007/début 2008 pour un nouvel album, leur second. Dans leur nouvel album devraient apparaitre les titres "Again" et "Have We Lost", qu'ils chantent actuellement en concert.Dans le film "Die Hard 4 : Retour en enfer(Québec: Vis libre ou crève)", on peut voir le clip vidéo de "I'm So Sick" pendant 30 secondes. La chanson "Again" apparait dans Guitar Hero : Warriors of Rock.



EN : Flyleaf is an American alternative metal band, formed in the Belton and Temple, Texas regions in 2000. The band has charted on mainstream rock, Christian pop and Christian metal genres. They performed around the United States in 2003 until releasing their eponymous debut album, Flyleaf, in 2005. The album went platinum after selling more than one million copies. The band won an online poll on yahoo.com and was named Yahoo!'s Who's Next band of the month in March 2006 and they were named MTV's artist of the week on December 24, 2007. Flyleaf released their second album Memento Mori on November 10, 2009 which debuted and peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard charts.Early on Lacey Sturm started playing with James Culpepper. Guitarists Jared Hartmann and Sameer Bhattacharya were later recruited. "Sameer and Jared are really experimental with melodies and pedals, and we all had different influences that were all blending together with the same passionate and hopeful heart, and that brought out this beautiful feeling. It was magical," said Sturm. Bassist Pat Seals joined in 2002 after leaving his previous band The Grove. As Passerby, the band released three EPs and played over 100 shows in Texas alone over the span of two years under the booking and promotion company Runt Entertainment. In 2004, Passerby played a showcase for RCA Records in New York City in hopes of getting signed. RCA passed on the band, but the president of Octone Records was very interested. They waited for two days in their van at a truck stop for a phone call about an Octone showcase. They were signed after the showcase, and on January 7, 2004, Octone Record's website announced their arrival to the label.In March 2004, Flyleaf traveled to Seattle, Washington to record an EP with Rick Parashar. Afterwards, they toured with Skillet, Breaking Benjamin, Staind and 3 Doors Down to promote their self-titled EP. In October, the EP was released to stores, spawning their first official single and video for the EP version of "Breathe Today.
