FR : Le groupe est né d'une fascination commune pour les mythes et légendes qui concernent l'Atlantide. C'est ainsi que Werner Fiedler, Mike Koren, Christian Stani et Chris Kamper décidèrent en août 2000 de travailler sur un concept inspiré des énigmes soulevées par ce mythe. Ils furent rejoints très peu de temps après par Nicole Bogner au chant. En décembre 2000, le groupe enregistre une première démo qui est composée seulement de trois morceaux, suivie de leurs premiers concerts, notamment en première partie du groupe Edenbridge. Continuant dans leur élan, au milieu de l’été 2001, le groupe signe un contrat avec le label allemand TTS Media Music/ Black Arrow Productions, puis enregistre son premier album intitulé Eternal Endless Infinity, qui sort au courant de l’été 2002.Visions of Atlantis tourne ensuite avec Katatonia, Finntroll, Edenbridge et Nightwish, et ils participent à plusieurs festivals en Europe ainsi qu'en Corée du Sud et en Amérique Latine où ils sont accueillis chaleureusement par les critiques[réf. nécessaire]. Durant l’été 2003, Christian Stani et Chris Kamper quittent le groupe et se voient remplacés par le chanteur Mario Plank et le clavieriste Miro Holly. Le groupe signe alors un nouveau contrat avec Napalm Records. En 2004, Visions of Atlantis participe de nouveau à de nombreux festivals en Europe, partageant l’affiche de groupes tels que Helloween et Stratovarius. Leur second album Cast Away sort en novembre 2004. Leur nouveau label remasterise également leur premier album, qui ressort avec une nouvelle pochette. Nicole Bogner quitte le groupe en 2005 pour des raisons personnelles et est remplacée par Melissa Ferlaak, alors que Werner Fiedler est remplacé par Wolfgang Koch. Miro Holly quitte aussi le groupe quelque temps plus tard et c’est désormais Martin Harb, qui avait déjà joué avec le groupe lors de leur tournée en 2003, qui le remplace aux claviers. Ils repartent donc en tournée en 2006 pour leur Romantic Darkness Tour avec Xandria, puis jouent aux Summer Breeze Open Air Festival et au Dokkém Open Air puis partent en tournée en Chine.Visions Of Atlantis a trouvé son line-up définitif et sort son troisième album le 28 mai 2007 en Europe et le 7 juin aux États-Unis. L'artwork de ce dernier est réalisé par Anthony Clarksson et cet album s'intitule Trinity. Ils vont également entamer une longue tournée notamment aux États-Unis, pays d'origine de Melissa.Fin 2007, Melissa Ferlaak (chant) et Wolfgang Koch (guitare) quittent le groupe. Werner Fiedler, ancien guitariste du groupe, fait alors son retour au sein de Visions of Atlantis. Le 1er fevrier 2009, le groupe annonçait sa nouvelle chanteuse Joanna Nieniewska qui prend la relève de l'ex chanteuse Melissa Ferlaak.

EN : Fascinated by the myth Atlantis, Werner Fiedler, Thomas Caser, Christian Stani and Chris Kamper decided in August 2000 to work out a concept inspired by the secret of Atlantis. Later in summer Nicole Bogner joined the project, this was the birth of Visions of Atlantis. A first demo, Morning in Atlantis was released in 2000. In 2001 they signed with TTS Media Music/Black Arrow Productions, and in 2002 their first album, Eternal Endless Infinity was released. 2003 saw a change in line-up, replacing Christian Stani with Mario Plank and Chris Kamper with Miro Holly. Now with Napalm Records, Visions of Atlantis released their second album Cast Away in 2004. In late 2005 Nicole Bogner left the band due to commitments elsewhere. She was replaced by Melissa Ferlaak (formerly with Aesma Daeva) and Wolfgang Koch replaced Werner Fiedler. In 2006 Martin Harb, who already played with VoA on their tour in Mexico in 2003, replaced Miro Holly. In May 2007, VoA released their 3rd album Trinity, mastered at Finnvox studios and recorded at Bavarian Dreamscape Studios In September 2007, the band began their first North American tour with Epica. On November 28, 2007, a message was posted on the official VoA website saying that Melissa Ferlaak and Wolfgang Koch had left the band, both citing personal reasons (Ferlaak and Koch were married in May 2008). Following this Visions of Atlantis announced a few days later that their ex guitarist, Werner Fiedler, had rejoined the band. They were advertising on their website the position for a female vocalist for several months, and on September 3, 2008, they finally announced that they had found a new female singer; however, her identity wasn't revealed until February 1, 2009, as the 20-year old Austrian soprano vocalist Joanna Nieniewska.On July 29, 2009, VoA announced that because of health problems, Joanna Nieniewska is no longer in the band but will continue to support VoA behind the scenes. The band announced the replacement vocalist, Maxi Nil from Greece. On December 3, 2010, VoA announced the new title of their 4th studio album Delta which was released on February 25, 2011.On July 18, 2011, Bass player Mario Locher left the band due to crucial internal differences. In a recent interview Harb said that the band is not planning on replacing him. Instead, they will continue without a bassist as a fixed band member. In August 2011, the band announced the title of their first EP Maria Magdalena, it was released on October 21, 2011.
