English power metallers Pythia recently signed a two album deal with Japanese label Spinning.

Today it was announced that the official Japanese edition will be released through Spinning on February 23rd 2011 and will contain bonus tracks and an alternative cover.

Hello Pythians, wishing you all a Happy New Year from everyone here in the ‘band-camp’!
Never known for sitting still, the boys and girl have been busy little bee’s lately:
First of all, a big thank you to everyone at our last few UK shows of the year.
All those at the Scala show were treated to a new track;
Just a Lie, played live for the first time. In fact, that was probably
the third time the guys had played the song all together in the same
room! The crowd reaction was great, so I think you may see that one in
regular rotation in the Pythia set.

Hard Rock Hell was a show of many extremes... Extreme cold,
extremely late show time, extremely drunk fans, and an extremely
late/pissed off lead singer and lead guitarist. But nonetheless, the
show was amazing, just a pity we couldn’t all hang around longer.
Before we move on there is a big thank you and somewhat of
an introduction needed. The more observant ones amongst you probably
noticed Ross’ normally reflective head was slightly more hirsute and a
little further from the floor at some of our last shows: Ladies and
Gentlemen I give you our long suffering stand in- Oz! Oz is Ross’ former
bandmate from Head-On, and generally fills in when one of the boys with
a guitar has the sniffles.

On to what’s up and coming (why else would you be reading this!?).
The new album is nearly finished the recording stages and
everyone in the band is extremely excited. Initial reports are ‘more of
the last album, just bigger and more epic in every direction’ says Andy.
The release date is set for sometime in the second quarter of the year
and you can rest assured that the live performances will come shortly
after, as the gigs are what the band is all about after all!

There will also be a video to compliment the release. No
details as yet, but he lot of them are frantically planning, scheming,
setting fire to things, and generally making their garb look more
imposing for the event. As soon as we know any more details the Pythia
News Network will reveal all we know.

There was also a new t-shirt released for the last few shows, if you haven’t got one yet, why not?!
Featuring the artwork from the fantastic Clive Arrowsmith and Hayley Madden it is sure to be a future collector’s item!

Lastly, but let alone leastly, the World Domination quest
continues to the coasts of the Land of the Rising Sun. Yes folks you
heard it right, Pythia are truly intercontinental! Signing a two album
deal with ‘Spinning’ a hot independent who approached the band, Beneath
the Veiled Embrace is released on the 23rd of Feb, and they will be
bringing the as-yet-untitled masterwork that is the second album to our
friends in Japan soon after. Keep an eye out for a feature in Burrn!
Magazine, Japan’s biggest selling Metal Mag.

The Japanese release features new artwork and bonus tracks, so grab one if you can!
That‘s it, we’re fresh out of news, beside various
hair/beard trimmings and some other even more mundane bits of tat, we
are totally out!

Hello!
Here’s wishing you all a happy Spring, as we have been blessed with some beautiful weather as well as wonderful news of late, more on that later.

Although not out on the road since Hard Rock Hell in December, we have been extremely hard at work preparing for this year’s onslaught on the international record markets, along with a little (much needed) R&R!

In order to make sure we remained focused on the completion of our new album the band decided to put back the video shoot from March to late summer. We want to sincerely thank all who helped out in this part of the project, especially James and Matt/all the guys at EKHO for all the hard work already completed.
We would also like to write a few words of support to the all the people at our Japanese label, Spinning, and to anyone affected by the recent events in the land of the rising sun. In good news over there though, the album is selling well, and has even been spotted on music stands next to some of our biggest idols and contemporaries. Let's see what album number 2 brings.
As we touched on earlier, the new album is here!!!!! Finally, after all this time, a couple of leaked tracks, and much Facebook conjecture, the album is done!

We can announce that the title is “The Serpent’s Curse’, and is a definitely a movement on from ‘Beneath the Veiled Embrace’. Ross describes it as “..our ‘Empire Strikes Back’; a lot darker, but technically better!”. Nuff said.

The album is due for release in the autumn, and look out for a UK tour to support the launch. More news as details firm up.

Along with the new album’s completion, Pythia have recruited some new brains and brawn to run things and take over the management duties. The band have begun working with James Gall of Fire and Air management to steer the band on the path to their place in the Book of Heavy Metal.
James was a ‘round-peg’ with the band from the first meeting and brings a wealth of new knowledge as well as great experience to the table. Welcome, Commander-in-General Gall, to the ranks of the Pythian army.....
If you can’t wait until the release of the second studio album, there is good news.. Pythia are set to release a very limited edition version of Beneath The Veiled Embrace for true heavy metal fans. The details of this are being confirmed at the moment so expect to hear from us very soon with finalized details, it will be offered to our mailing list exclusively prior to the general public so get signed up. We think you’ll love it! Don’t miss out, this is going to be a one off.
That’s pretty much all from the guys at the moment. Rest assured the new tour will see new armour and kit and a new stage set! Be sure to be the first to get your new merch signed by the band at a town near you... While we’re working away, get recruiting for the Pythian Army! PYTHIA have revealed details of their long awaited second album. ‘The Serpent’s Curse’, will be released on 27th February 2012 on Golden Axe via Genepool/Universal in the UK.

Just in time for Yule Tide, PYTHIA will release advance single, 'Betray My Heart', on 19th of December on an extremely limited edition coloured vinyl 7”, with a remixed version appearing on the B-side, and CD/Digital download with an extra little surprise for the more angelic at heart…

Guitarist Ross comments, ‘Betray My Heart is a dark, heavy and very 'full on' song. Heavy Riff after heavy riff, pummeling drums, layers of epic keys and Emily's trademark soaring, emotion drenched vocals full of dark yet catchy melodies. This ain’t no sugar-coated pop metal, it's dark symphonic power-thrash metal!’

The band have also completed work on a video to accompany the single, drummer Marc comments "This video was all about capturing the energy and emotion of both the song itself, and the band's live shows. Pounding and aggressive, yet intimate and emotive, personal and introspective, but spewing forth a venomous assault". The video was filmed at the majestic St. John's of Hackney at the end of summer; a fitting baptism by fire for new bassist Mark Harrington who has fitted in to the line up like a wandering bard, finally finding his way home!

Mark’s first response on coming through the door was ‘Whew…. These guys are nuts, what have I let myself in for’, but was followed by ‘It's a real honour to be providing the bottom-end rumble to such a sterling bunch of metal warriors! I'm really looking forward to the exciting things we have planned in the next few months...’
